Beaded caterpillars/centipedes are not toys; however, a child can carefully hold them. They are made of a fairly tough wire so they are unlikely to break but if enough pressure is applied perhaps they could? With the centipedes the legs may flip around if picked up but are easily flipped back over. If you plan to pack them, I recommend keeping them in the box they were shipped in. Additionally, there are potential pokey parts, I try to squeeze everybody's feet together but just in case, please be careful.
